Explanations about the easy search

The easy search looks in the following catalogue fields the words you have typed in:

- Title
- Authors
- Series
- Abstract
- Title category
- Publisher
- Remarks
- Subjects

If the system finds title records containing all of the searched words, only these titles are displayed, as they are considered as the most relevant ones.
If no title record contains all of the searched words, the system displays titles containing at least one of the words. The result is less relevant, but you will certainly find interesting titles.

The result list is sorted by title.

You will get better results by using the following operators :

The + (plus) operator before a word means that the word MUST be contained within the title.
The - (minus) operator before a word means that the word MUST NOT be contained within the title.
The = (is equal to) operator before a word means that the system must not search words containing this word (for instance, =air will find only air and not airplane).
Quotation marks ""let you search for an expression (such as "human rights").

Example:

+="Trafalgar Square" +London -Thames will find titles containing "Trafalgar Square" and "London", but will exclude titles containing "Thames".

Operators +, - and = are not interpreted if they are surrounded by quotation marks.

If you enter for instance: =heart+mother, BiblioMaker will search exactly "heart+mother".
Caution, if you enter for instance: =+France, BiblioMaker will search "+France", the + operator will not be interpreted and the result will not be relevant.
